Cork Lower Harbour River Crossing 2101 – Design Competition for Students (3rd Level)
Students enrolled in a third level course in an Engineering programme in Ireland and other relevant students from the built environment are invited to take part in a design competition to design a crossing of the Cork Lower Harbour. Participants are encouraged to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams of 4 (four) liaising with historians, craftspeople and artists. The competition aims to explore the authentic spatial and material need of the Cork City for future sustainable development without losing the remaining historic fabric. The project should be a source of innovative, economic and sustainable solutions and should create opportunities to test new ideas, inviting various approaches to formal expression.
