18-04-2016.... Our 2016-2017 Cork Region Committee was officially elected at our AGM on the 12th April 2016. The new committee is already planning a comprehensive calendar of events for the next 12 months. We would welcome your views and suggestions. Please contact the committee members by email or phone - contact details are on our Committee page.

18-04-2016.... The Local Enterprise Office of Cork City Council organises a wide variety of training courses for owners/managers of small businesses across all business areas in the Cork area. Details of upcoming courses can be found on this WEBSITE. All welcome.

12-02-2016.... Our Annual Dinner was held at the Maryborough House Hotel today. Thank you to all who supported the event. Some images are available to view on our News page.

14-07-2014.... In June 2014 the Cork Region committee undertook an online survey of members views in relation to the 2014-2015 calendar. The results of this survey have now been analysed and a report produced. This can be viewed HERE. The committee would like to thank all members who contributed to this survey and the views expressed will be taken on board in forming the programme of events for this and subsequent years.

We all have to Negotiate on a daily basis in both our professional & personal lives, as the things we want to acquire, or achieve are commonly owned, controlled, or influenced by someone else. We need to reach mutually beneficial agreements with these individuals in order to achieve our goals. This is the purpose of Negotiation, applied either inside or outside the workplace. Negotiation is a skill, and as such it can be learned & developed.

Course aim:
This one day programme will help you understand the principles & best practices of the negotiation process, how to use a structured approach, and effectively communicate your position.

Course Overview:

The primary objective of Ibec's Managing People Programme is to enable front-line managers to make a more effective contribution to the organisation by developing core skills central to managing people at work.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

* Understand and appreciate the full extent and importance of your role in managing people

* Improve your interpersonal skills to enable you to deal more effectively with people at all levels within the organisation and act with greater confidence

* Acquire the key tools for managing people through a practical approach to skills development in such areas as motivation, managing problem behaviours, counselling, assertiveness and negotiations.

* Develop an appreciation of grievance and disciplinary procedures and improve your effectiveness in handling issues in these areas.

* Gain an overview of the key areas of employment legislation and become more confident when dealing with queries in relation to these.
