18-06-2017.... Our 2017-2018 Cork Region Committee was officially elected at our recent AGM. The new committee is currently planning a comprehensive calendar of events for the next 12 months. The Local Enterprise Office, Cork City has scheduled a wide range of courses commencing this Autumn/Winter to assist those working in the micro business sector.

 24/03/2018 SITE VISIT - ESB hydropower station at Ardnacrusha
ORGANISED by YES Cork Region

About the event

Marked as one of the Engineering Milestones of the 20th Century, our friends in ESB GWM have agreed to host a tour of the Ardnacrusha Hydro station. The tour will take attendees through the history of the inception of hydroelectric power, to the plant's electrification in 1927 and all the way to the day-to-day running of the 86 MW Hydro station.

The tour will close with a short presentation on the activities of the Cork Young Engineers society.

There is ample car parking at the station and PPE will be provided.

Please note that places are limited so this tour is restricted to members of Engineers Ireland.


Admission is free and all are welcome. Advance booking is required and should be made using the link provided and password HYDRO. Those not registered will not be admitted.

 19/04/2018 Mix your Mode - Connectivity and Active Travel Seminar
Event Organised by Transport & Mobility Forum Cork

Mix Your Mode Connectivity and Active Travel Seminar offers stakeholders a great opportunity to hear about and discuss modern sustainable and active travel developments and goals for Cork. Given the significant increase in population projected for Cork City and County over the next 20 years, the challenge is to have sustainable economic growth whilst maintaining a good quality of life for residents, visitors, local businesses and communities. The half day seminar will be a combination of talks and discussions relevant to Cork. From these discussions we aim, with your input, to produce outcomes which will progress sustainable and active travel measures for the benefit of Cork.
