18-06-2017.... Our 2018-2019 Cork Region Committee was officially elected at our recent AGM. The new committee is currently planning a comprehensive calendar of events for the next 12 months. ...... LEO, Cork City schedules Programmes for Owners/Managers in the Micro Business Sector
The Local Enterprise Office, Cork City has scheduled a wide range of courses commencing this Autumn/Winter to assist those working in the micro business sector.

 20/11/2018 Refurbishment of St Patricks bridge, Cork City
Speaker - Fergus Gleeson (Senior Engineer, Cork City Council)

This lecture will focus on the history of Patricks bridge and its ongoing refurbishment. The event will take place at the atrium in City Hall.

 21/11/2018 Careers & Postgraduate Opportunities Workshop
This event will be of interest to all engineering graduates and final year students who intend on embarking on their engineering career or who are considering taking up postgraduate studies.

Recruitment consultants from Hays Recruitment, will inform attendees of the services Hays offer and will give advice to engineering graduates on kicking off their careers in the construction, mechanical and electrical sectors. They will also give a review of the current trends in the engineering sector in Ireland.

Deirdre Parker from UCC Career Services will discuss how graduates can fine tune their CV writing and interviewing skills to give them the best chance of getting that dream job in engineering!

There will also be a presentation on the opportunities available to those students considering taking up postgraduate studies.

Industry representatives from companies in the civil/structural and pharm-chem sectors will also be present to discuss the opportunities they offer to engineering graduates.

Light refreshments will be available. Attendees are invited to chat and network with the presenters and industry reps at the event.

 22/11/2018 CIF End of Year social & networking evening
The Cork Branch Chairman, Donal Cahalane, in conjunction with Engineers Ireland (Cork Region), will be hosting a special End of Year social & networking evening for members of the Construction Industry Federation and the wider construction industry on Thursday, 22nd November 2018 in the Maryborough Hotel, Cork.

 27/11/2018 Irish Water Technical Documents & Quality Assurance
Speaker - Tadgh O Connor & Brian Quinn (Irish Water)

Irish Water has published Technical Documents comprising Standard Details and Codes of Practice which provide guidance to developers on the Irish Water’s requirements for the provision of water supply and wastewater collection infrastructure within developments. This infrastructure, on its connection to the Irish Water’s networks, will be vested and adopted by Irish Water.

Irish Water applies Quality Assurance to the design and construction of the water services infrastructure. This is mandated through the Irish Water Connection Agreements. Vetting of development water services infrastructure designs will be carried out by Connection and Developer Services Design Teams and the construction of this infrastructure will be inspected by Irish Water Field Engineers, in collaboration with LA’s.

This Presentation will outline the services that are provided by Irish Water’s Connection and Developer Services unit. It will also describe the design, construction and quality assurance approach that Irish Water applies to water and wastewater infrastructure in new developments.
