18-06-2017.... Our 2018-2019 Cork Region Committee was officially elected at our recent AGM. The new committee is currently planning a comprehensive calendar of events for the next 12 months. The Local Enterprise Office, Cork City has scheduled a wide range of courses commencing this Autumn/Winter to assist those working in the micro business sector.

Cork Institute of Technology are running modules in Fire Safety Certification (on campus CIT - application (course CCSXXD8_Y0) closing date 25-01-19) and Fire Safety Engineering (part time, online - application (course CR_CCSXX_8) closing date 17-01-19).  22/01/2019 Domestic scale CHP
Speaker - Kevin Fortune (Fingleton White Consulting Engineers)

Time: 19:00 (Tea/coffee from 18:30)

In this presentation, Kevin Fortune will discuss:
* the benefits of CHP (combined heat and power)
* how CHP provides primary energy savings
* reduces greenhouse gas emissions
* supports intermittent renewables on the grid

The presentation will describe the requirements to be met for a CHP project to qualify as High Efficiency CHP. The benefits of CHP will be discussed and how these can be achieved at a domestic dwelling level, giving some results from domestic CHP system tests, which are currently underway.

 05/02/2019 Panelised and Modular Offsite Construction
Speaker: James Young BEng (Hons) CEng MIEI
(Director of Engineering Services - Evolusion Innovation)

This presentation will outline the technical aspects of panelised and modular offsite construction methods that can be applied to projects in Ireland with a particular emphasis on panelised Light Gauge Steel and various modular methods of construction. The presentation will cover aspects such as application, structure, fire, thermal as well as other technical performance characteristics.

 06/02/2019 Scaling up crystallisations

**JOINT ENGINEERS IRELAND & ICHEME EVENT**

Speaker: Jason Murtagh (DPS Group)

Jason Murtagh will provide an overview of crystallisation science. The effects of particle size and shape are reviewed. The various crystallisation processes and equipment are discussed as are the impact of process conditions. Crystallisation of biopharmaceuticals is reviewed.

Two case studies involving industrial processes are described.
