12-05-2019.... Our 2019-2020 Cork Region Committee was elected at our AGM on 30th April. The new committee has immediately started work on planning a comprehensive calendar of events for the next 12 months.

| 25/09/2019 ||Solvent Recovery using Pervaporation: Sizing and operation of systems
The Chemical and Process Division of Engineers Ireland will have an evening lecture at 6.30pm Wednesday 25th September in CIT
Speakers: Cilian Ó Súilleabháin (CIT) & Annette Lynch (Pfizer)
Pervaporation is a membrane process that is be used to break azeotropes
and remove water from solvents. It provides significant energy savings.
Cilian will outline the new simple equations he has developed for the
sizing of pervaporation systems and for estimating energy consumption.
Annette has operated the pervaporation unit at Pfizer Ringaskiddy for the past 15 years. She will discuss the performance of the system.
Admission is FREE

| 28/09/2019 ||Port of Cork Operations Site Visit
This site visit to Ringaskiddy will focus on Port Operations in facilitating international trade It will give an insight into Port logistics, various cargo shipping modes, ship to shore gantry/harbour mobile craneage utilised in handling feeder/transatlantic shipping vessels and adjacent storage facilities.
A brief presentation will be given at the Ports Ferry Terminal Building to start.

| 22/10/2019 ||STEPS Young Engineers Award - Volunteer Workshop: Cork
About the event:
Are you an engineer or studying engineering? Want to find out more about inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers?
Come along to the STEPS Volunteer Training Session and learn all about how to get involved. There is no obligation - you can decide to opt in or opt out after the event.
Please note: you must have attended a STEPS Training Session to take part in the STEPS Volunteer Engineer Programme 2019.
At the training session you will meet the STEPS Team, as well as fellow STEPS Volunteer Engineers. We will go through topics like volunteering as an engineer, the STEPS Young Engineers Award and what happens at a STEPS school visit. There will also be lots of ideas on delivering engineering activities to young children. And it will be fun! Importantly, you will learn about the role of the STEPS Volunteer Engineer and our Child Protection Policy
